Bowel Clamps or Intestinal Forceps as they’re also known, are designed to be non-crushing clamps to temporarily occlude the lumen of the bowel. VETisco supply two different types of Bowel Clamps with the main difference being the jaw type.
The Doyen Bowel Clamp has longitudinal serrations and the Atraumatic Bowel Clamp has atraumatic jaws as shown above. Both have a ‘soft close/fine’ ratchet and are available as straight or curved.

Following a request from Shaun Ferneley MA VetMB CertSAS MRCVS (Donnington Grove Vet Group) we have added Atraumatic Bowel Clamps with a longer ratchet (similar to bone holding forceps). This is because when dealing with some patients, even only engaging the first ratchet could still provide enough force to crush the bowel - this new clamp gives a wider ratcheted gape.
