Canine Cruciate Ligament Rupture is widely accepted as the most common canine orthopaedic problem encountered in veterinary practice. The rupture is usually seen as a result of some form of traumatic injury, but it is most likely due to a degenerative process that has occurred over time, especially in larger breeds ( >30kgs). Labradors and Rottweilers are two of the most commonly affected breeds, although any dog, and in rare cases, any cat can suffer from this condition. Over the years there have been many different methods to treat this condition, be it conservative management or in the majority of cases surgical intervention.

All methods of cruciate repair have advantages and disadvantages and the variety of methods used today merely demonstrate the fact that there is no one treatment that everyone is happy with and that gives perfect results. It is often a case of what the surgeon is most comfortable and confident with and what best suits the patient and owner. At VETisco our cruciate repair range includes our cruciate Nylon and new E-Fiber for Lateral Suture techniques, TTO, TPLO and TTA implants as well as various instruments to assist with these procedures.
